White Oak Herringbone with Rubio Monocoat Smoke 5% — Castle Rock

Wood Species:
White Oak
Finish:
Hardwax Oil
Color:
Smoke 5%

New white oak herringbone became the main visual feature of this Castle Rock project. We installed the herringbone flooring and additional straight-plank areas, then refinished the existing kitchen floor and staircase so the new and retained wood could read as one connected interior.

After sanding, the white oak was water-popped before Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C in Smoke 5% was applied. The finished floor keeps the grain and natural board-to-board variation visible while carrying one color direction through the different layouts.

The master closet uses a chevron pattern for a related but distinct detail. Bordered transitions connect the herringbone and straight-plank areas. For more about colored oils and other options, see our guide to custom hardwood floor colors and specialty finishes.
