Rubio Monocoat – Pure Oil + Fumed – Denver, CO

Wood Species:
White Oak
Finish:
Hardwax Oil
Color:
Fumed

This was a fun project in Denver, CO. And it was a bit special as it’s the first time we got to use Rubio Monocoat reactive stain and finish.

The challenge of the day was an old oil residue that penetrated wood deep from sides of the boards. As we’ve learned it was caused by a shortcut that floor professionals took back in the days to save time on coat of finish. But in the end it didn’t turn out be much of an issue as it the chosen color got to blend it perfectly where you can’t really see it.

And we really loved working with Rubio Monocoat Finish. Floors turned out very beautiful and authentic. We now offer Rubio Monocoat products along with traditional polyurethane options.

I love this floor! I don’t know anything about Rubio Monocoat. Is it more matte (matter?) than bona?

It’s a great look. And sheen should be similar to Bona’s Craft Oil.

This is the type of finish I would like on my floor. What does fuming involve?
